Keeping the Boogaloo Momentum

I have spent the last few years creating the open source website creation framework Boogaloo. The experience has been quite educational and extremely rewarding. Boogaloo’s biggest deficiency is the lack of documentation (a short coming in which I am solely responsible) and I understand that in order to attract interest in the project, the project needs to be better described.

A couple of months ago I wrote a post Differentiating Boogaloo in response to a comment the studio received in its’ blog as a sort of first step. However in all honesty, I found that once Boogaloo’s initial release version was published keeping up with the new demands of the project had become a bit challenging, especially with the responsibilities my day job.

Enter Mindfly’s Visual Designer Erica Quessenberry. Erica took it upon herself (in her own time) to begin producing a series of Boogaloo training tutorial videos. To date she has posted seven!

Her effort has really been personally motivating. I have literally spent hundreds of hours working on this project and I am so thankful to have Erica as a contributing member of the Boogaloo open source team.

2010 Golden Gloves Super Heavyweight champion

George Thompson, one of the boxing instructors at the USMAA gym (where I do “Bootcamp” in the morning) won his Golden Gloves title fight this past weekend making him the 2010 Golden Glove Super Heavyweight champion (regional I think).

Over the course of the past year I have personally witnessed his devotion to his training and how hard he works at it. The dude is plain and simply motivating. Congratulations George, you definitely deserve the title.

Mindfly Web Design Studio’s Interactive Designer Kyle Weems‘ new comic Mr. Flash’s Very Bad Day depicts the controversy surrounding Apple not including a Flash plug-in on the new iPad. Kyle, I will never know how you come up with this stuff.

Little Epistles’ Preschool Star of the Week

This week Olivia is “Star of the Week” at St. Paul’s Academy’s Little Epistles’ Preschool.

Star of the Week Poster Board

There is nothing like seeing your daughter really excited for a school project. The teachers at the Little Epistles’ Preschool put so much energy and creativity they put into their classes.

Putting together Olivia’s poster board made for some really fun family time as we all went through old photos from various vacations, trips and holidays as we went through memorabilia picking photos and reminiscing.

So thanks Ms. D’Angelo! We had a great time.

Taking Initiative With Content Strategy

As a small business owner, I love to see my staff wholeheartedly engaging new concepts and incorporating them into their day to day work flows. Maya Belka and Theresa Carpine both deserve a lot of credit for all of the research, events and internal business development (for Mindfly Web Design Studio) they have each done in the content strategy arena.
